It's Green Roses–not dyed

Did you know…

Roses are healing with health benefits. I wrote an article about lilacs and roses a short time ago.  Having living plants or flowers are uplifting to your mind and body. Yes, you can add rose petals into a fresh salad. Make sure they are not sprayed petals.  Even low in calories like celery. Not all flowers are edible.

HINT:  Print out flower here on colored ink and put on your walls.  Can send to Kinko's or OfficeMax and have printed on white paper, 20 or 60 pounds.  Put in frame if you wish.

Flowers are uplifting especially with a nice smell.  They can be like a face lift but really a "smile" lifter placing a song in your heart.

Rose Petals

I wasn't always…

Healthy.  When I was diagnosed with low blood sugar and borderline diabetes I was not the sign of health as I know today.  I got my wake up healthy reality checkup when I would almost faint on the subway many times.  Or, awaken with smothering spells or being dizzy in my own house when I opened my eyes.

This is not normal…

To wake up feeling like you never slept or seeing the room spin is not my ideal way of waking up but it was my reality.  I found the now deceased Dr. Herman Goodman. He wanted the world to know about Low Blood Sugar. It was like a ministry to him. I met him a few years before he died.  He was around 75 or older when we met. I'm not great on guessing ages.

I went with my pretty and tasty living foods like the one below.  It's not cooked, but is vegan. I do like vegan meals but not for my dog who loves her organic meats.

The Fresh Organic Salad

Through my own health challenges…

I learned three lessons…

1. The signs…

I was not as healthy as I thought I was.  6 hour blood test for sugar problems proved I did have Low Blood Sugar also known as Hypoglycemia.  The signs were my fainting spells, my dizzy spinning room, my smothering spells and always tired.  But this was ONLY for a short season of my life. Before this I was your full energy person.  I got that back after I lost the signs.

2. Change…

I could have continued to eat the way I was used to eating: pounds of processed food, lots of meat, cereal in boxes, and five pounds of cheese a week with my husband. I choose to change.

Are you feeding your pets healthy? My dog eats healthy and organic.  I would not say she is excited about eating her veggies.  She doesn't have a choice but other than starve.  It doesn't take much time for preparing her foods; she fusses but gets it into her belly even if we have to disguise it.  Nice to have some tricks for her to eat.

3. Start…

Where and how to start is the $64,000 question.  First begin with educating yourself. You can go to your doctor and he will educate you, but he probably will add in some drugs.  His education, unless a holistic doctor, is drug oriented.  Nutritional training is limited in school even with a medical degree.  If any training it was limited hours only.  Drugs would be more of his focus through his education. That means he will suggest drugs and it gets added into your bill.

Did you know all drugs have side effects? Ask my dog who knows how she almost died by my wrong "yes" to vet prescribed drugs.

Education can be also gotten from books, magazines, online or classes.  Why wait?  The time is now to begin and then "grow with your own healthy tips" as you bloom." Bloom where planted, but learn from others who have bloomed before you to shorten your learning curve.

Reflecting and acting…

What can you do today and use forever?  How about adding in more fresh fruits and vegetables daily to your eating plan?  Paying for less processed foods!  How about trying a sweet potato not cooked–yes, raw!  They come in different colors, textures and flavors.  Buy two different to compare your likes.

When the kids get older bring them into the garden to help or borrow some kids who may love gardening and be your helper.

Carol, I really like the way that talk about blooming where you are planted.  That is one of my favorite philosophies.
What a wonderful picture of your dog…I cook all of the food that my dog eats and he just loves raw veg, especially carrots, peas and beans.  He has to eat healthy because he has an issue with pancreatitis and the home cooked food keeps my little guy strong.
All right, you've convinced me…I am going to add more fruits and veg to my eating plan.  Thank you for sharing!

Sherie, I believe people need to start where they are at. We were forced to change with hubby having a one time seizure, but for most they won’t dive into something without wading in the water a bit. Thanks for sharing.

Great article, Carol. I did not know that roses are healing with health benefits. I love your passion and mission to help others to eat healthy so that they can be the best that they can be. Thank you :)

Susan, thanks for your comments.  Yes, roses are healing, but read more about it first and surely not ones that are sprayed.
